About us

Peace Child originated from a musical presented by British peace campaigner in London in 1981 and has moved the center of their activity to the US. The fundamental idea of Peace Child is to encourage the youth around the world to communicate with and understand each other. Since the foundation, they have presented musicals performed by children around the world to let them and the audiences think about the importance of the life, peace and the earth.

As for Japan, university students from Hiroshima participated in the East Coast tour of Peace child in 1988. Moved by the musical, they established Peace Child Hiroshima and went into action focusing on musical performances.

In 1991, another university student Rina Sato worked as an interpreter in an international program at Washington DC held by Peace Child. Impressed by the spirit, she established Peace Child Tokyo.

In the following summer, Peace Child Tokyo held an international program “Say You Love This World!” with Peace Child Hiroshima in Japan, having 30 participants from four different countries. The program was highly evaluated by the participants. Moreover it was broadcasted as a documentary program on TV and had responses from all around Japan.

Peace Child Tokyo has held 15 programs since 1992 with tremendous support from many people, such as the host sites, home stay families, local communities, and local high schools. We have deepened our relationship with them through introducing foreign participants to them and joining their activities.

We are now preparing for the 16th “Say You Love This World!” We are confident that this program will be more fruitful and memorable than ever.
