About us
Peace Child Tokyo is a non-profit organization. Our main activity is holding the intercultural camp “Say you love this world!” in every summer. We are not connected with any political or religious organizations.
Peace Child Tokyo brings up the young people as a peace maker, who can notice, think and act for peace.
Our Mission
- To empower young people who would realize a nuclear-free and peaceful society.
- To provide young people with learning opportunities to realize the value and importance of taking actions for miscellaneous global issues.
Our History
Peace Child originated from a musical presented by British peace campaigner in London in 1981 and has moved the center of their activity to the US. The fundamental idea of Peace Child is to encourage the youths around the world to communicate and understand each other. Since the foundation, they have presented musicals performed by youths around the world to let them and the audiences think about the importance of the life, peace and the earth.
As for Japan, a university student from Hiroshima participated in the East Coast tour of Peace child in 1988. Moved by the musical, she established Peace Child Hiroshima and started musical performances.
In 1991, another university student established Peace Child Tokyo.
In the following summer, Peace Child Tokyo held the first international program “Say You Love This World!” in Japan with Peace Child Hiroshima, having 30 participants from four different countries.
Since then, we have held 19 international camps every summer focused on global issues and world peace. This year, Peace Child Tokyo is organizing the 20th international summer program held in August.
