Workshop of Peace 2

Civil War in Yugoslavia

In the morning, we invited Milnes Kovacevic from Bosnia to our workshop. He talked about Bosnian cultures, current situation, and the civil war in Yugoslavia showing Bosnian beautiful landscapes as well as pictures of the civil war. While Bosnia is being reconstructed, there are still problems in young labors and barriers among different ethnic groups.

Sharing Comments

After the lecture, we shared our comments and feelings. We discussed conflicts between ethnic groups, and tragedies of civil wars. Comments include β€œIt is important to mutually understand each other.” and β€œI want to know what I can do for world peace.”

This lecture was an excellent opportunity to learn Bosnia, and realize that civil wars were actually occurring in our neighborhood by asking ourselves why civil wars happen, how we can reduce conflicts, and what we can do for them.

What is Reality?

In the afternoon, we discussed media which had a great impact on the Bosnian civil war. In this workshop, each group made newspaper under the given condition with the limited amount of time. People gave ideas of what kind of newspaper they make under what concept. Considering many topics of news such as politics, economy, environment, entertainment and also target customers, everybody completed excellent newspapers.

Finally, we thought about three most important things we should bear in mind when we get information from media. Through this workshop, we have learned media literacy and credibility of information media was providing to us which made a wonderful first-step to broaden views of how we deal with information.
