Performance

The “Performance” could be said as a compilation of the whole summer program. The performers express their feeling and things there have learnt through out the program through songs, plays and many other ways.
This time, we had four groups made up of participants and staffs. All groups had full of originalities.

GroupA

We decided to use the topic which was most impressive and which we thought was most important as the theme of our performance. After a long discussion, all of us agreed the conclusions that “Friendship” was the most important thing we had created together during the program.

In our performance, we had expressed our “Friendship” by making sentences using the letters “FRIENDSHIP”. We also performed Japanese, Thai, and Bosnian hand game to express that we all had participated in the program with a mind pure as a child.

We could hardly stop smiling and laughing while we were preparing for the performance. Whenever we had spare time, we gathered and practiced for the performance. The true “Friendship” could be found even outside the performance itself.

In the final part of our performance, we did a game which all the participants joined and made a rhythm by hitting the flower. I could feel again that people here were all connected to each other.
Peace Child friends are always connected with the “Friendship” forever.

Group B

Our group performed a musical to express that even if each of us had different thoughts, music can unite the world.
There are various kinds of people with different ways of thinking. These could vary depending on religions and cultures. However, music is shared all over the world and therefore we can share one single thing and be inspired together! This was our message and we expressed this message in our performance by showing people who were fighting but started to feel peace and warm when they heard the wonderful music.

Finally, we performed an arranged song of “Clap your hands if you are feeling happy” both in Japanese and in English and each member played one’s favorite instrument. I can still remember the happy faces of all the performers.

Group C

We all agreed on performing a play in order to express our message of peace. Our theme was to deliver the message of mother, child, and peace. We could feel the enthusiastic spirits of the members through various ideas came out from the members, such as using the shadowgraph, songs and musical instruments.

However, Japanese participants and overseas participants had slightly different ideas. Japanese participants said that “There are many mothers and children all over the world. Mothers tell their child a song. Then the children who grew up will all be connected. And then again, those children will become mothers and tell their children that same song”. On the other hand, overseas participants said that “Mother and a child is a symbol of this world. The message mother is telling to her child is a symbol of peace. And this song would be told to people over generations”.

After the discussion, we agreed on the idea of the overseas participants. All the structure buildings were also excellently put forward mainly by the group leaders. Performers made stage properties, practiced the lines, and arranged to use songs and musical instruments in the play. This process of making the play all together was quite brightening.

The play was successfully performed!! We could perform as we all had imagined. The best thing we had succeeded was the fact that we never gave up to respect and understand each other. We could experience the importance of having discussions, trying not to compromise what one really wants to tell, understanding seriously what the others really want to tell. Moreover, we also experience the difficulties to create and act and the happy feeling we will get after overcoming all those difficulties.

Group D

Our performers played rolls of various presidents from various countries. Presidents discussed about the topics they had felt through out the program. And we all sang a song together without any wall barriers between countries. Song has a power to unite the world. When one person starts singing, all other people around will follow and sing together. This kind of connection could be found in this program.

We finished our performance by shouting out “We are all different and we are all great!” which was the message we wanted to tell the most.

Although we had some language difficulties, the preparation for the performance was done in a peaceful atmosphere. Due to this atmosphere, had to rush in the very end since we did not have enough time…. It was great that we had great members and we could create our performance happily.

Throughout this performance, I could feel the importance to go beyond the wall barriers of nations and to value the connections as cosmopolitans.
